Engineer/Senior Engineer Position: TATA ELXSI On Campus Experience 2024
Tata Elxsi is among the world's leading providers of design and technology services across industries including Automotive, Broadcast, Communication, and Healthcare.
Tata Elxsi conducts mass hiring every year. It visited our campus in September 2024. Eligibility criteria for B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech/MCA was about 60% in all semesters, along with SSC(X) till the highest qualification. CTC offered is 3.5LPA.
Rounds in On-Campus Placement:
Aptitude + Technical
Technical Interview
HR Interview
The whole placement procedure was offline on the college campus. All of the above three rounds are elimination rounds.
First Round (Aptitude + coding)
The first round is 120 mins. Each section has individual timings and cannot be passed to one other. The first section consists of 20Q of aptitude for 30 min. The level of these questions varied from medium to hard. Questions on number series, time and work, puzzles, relations, directions, etc are asked. The next section was English, 20Q for 20 mins, overall difficulty is easy. The next section has computer fundamentals, 25Q for 30 mins. In this questions related to SQL Queries, testing, pseudo codes, and other computer subjects are asked. Overall difficulty varied from easy to moderate.
The last and most important section of this round is coding questions. There are a total of 3 coding questions, to be solved in 40 minutes. Difficulty varied from easy to moderate. Topics like String, recursion, arrays, hashing, and basic Dynamic Programming are focused. A single test case is shown and others are hidden test cases. You need to get at least 2 questions to pass the test cases to clear this section. Also, each section has its cutoff(not disclosed), and you need to score well in all the sections to clear this round.
After the first round, a presentation discussing the life and career at TATA ELXSI is given. Most of the senior HRs are present during the presentation and also for the next interview rounds. So, around 500 students participated in the drive out of which 126 were selected for the next round, which is Technical Interview.
Technical Interview
There are around 5 -6 panelists, each interviewing a single student at a time. The level of your interview depends upon the panelist, who is interviewing you. Also, students are called out randomly for the interview, so there is no chance of any malpractice. The difficulty of the interview varies from easy to moderate. Most of the questions are based on the technologies and projects you have mentioned in the resume.
Also, they will ask you to explain your projects and the tech stack used. Few data structure questions along with questions on programming language in your resume! You need to have a good level of communication skills and confidence along with technical knowledge to clear this round!
Shortlisted students directly received the mail, and the HR round was scheduled soon after.
HR Interview
For the HR round, the procedure is the same as the technical round. The panelist checks your confidence and asks some questions regarding your family background, extracurricular activities, etc. Also, they asked some behavioral questions, along with team handling situations.
The next day, the list of selected students is shared from the placement cell of the college, where around 50 students were given the offer.
Conclusion
TATA ELXSI is a reputed company with a keen interest and the right balance in employee welfare as well as the company's growth! Although a tiring and whole day lengthy process of hiring(a lot less than big MNCs'), with question difficulty varying from easy to hard level, covering all CS fundamentals, at the end of the day it is worth it!
